I was reading the article about sheryl and i was truely sadend by this. Not becasue she came out and said she was gay. I think sheryl is a great ball player and I give her props for that. I don't know her as a person but I am sure she is a nice lady, It seems she does a lot for communitties and stuff. Thats awesome, but the truth is that God looks down upon this ungodly ac of lust. I have nothing against gay people at all. But the act of beign gay and sleeping with the same sex is not accepted by God. This is why I was sadend by the article. True love comes only through God. Sheryl did not take a step forward in beign true to herself. She fell far a way from her savior Jesus Christ.

This is awesome. It's about time someone stood up for who they are and can stand up and say who they love is important enough to take a risk against all of you judgemental people. I wouldn't even say "Christians" because I have some very loving, open, accepting, straight and gay Christian friends. Good for Sheryl for passsing the meesage about "Love" and not "hate"

Why should we care what any athelete or celebrity thinks about anything except what they're famous for. I could care what my dentist think about my fly-casting technique!

She destroyed the reputation of the University of Texas' women's basketball team for several years with her allegations about unwanted lesbian advances from people there. She transfered to Texas Tech after that, and UT's basketball team had a terrible time recruiting for a few years because of her outspoken "UT's squad is filled with lesbians" kind of talk.

I suspect her revelation that she wasn't "born gay" but rather "discovered" it will not sit well with some in the gay activist community.

Well, it's a bit contradictory, isn't it? How can you "discover" what's not already there? But the distinction seems a bit metaphysical at best. Gay-activist essentialism is more a rhetorical tool than a really thought-out position. Cf. "one isn't born a woman, one becomes one."

Didn't I just hear a statistic somewhere that girls who play highschool basketball are less likely to become teen mothers? (was that Rev. Jackon's comment on TV?) ... perhaps "getting them interested in basketball" doesn't have all the connotations he was looking for ;-).
