Some people have too much money:
George Soros, one of the world’s richest men, has given away nearly $5 billion to promote democracy in the former Soviet bloc, Africa and Asia. Now he has a new project: defeating President Bush.“It is the central focus of my life,” Soros said, his blue eyes settled on an unseen target. The 2004 presidential race, he said in an interview, is “a matter of life and death.”
Soros, who has financed efforts to promote open societies in more than 50 countries around the world, is bringing the fight home, he said. On Monday, he and a partner committed up to $5 million to MoveOn.org, a liberal activist group, bringing to $15.5 million the total of his personal contributions to oust Bush.
Overnight, Soros, 74, has become the major financial player of the left. He has elicited cries of foul play from the right. And with a tight nod, he pledged: “If necessary, I would give more money.”

Will someone please remind me again what the Campaign Finance Reform Act was supposed to accomplish?
A good question.
If Soros wants to spend his money this way, I believe he should be entitled. But it’s silly to have to use back door channels to do so. And it would be nice if we would stop hearing about how wealthy Republicans are trying to buy elections.

Considering that Soros is giving this money because he thinks Bush is like Hitler, he almost comes across as a left-wing parody of Richard Mellon Scaife.
I posted on this yesterday in a fit of anger. I agree that Soros can do what he wants to with his money - it just really angers me that someone who flees real fascism (Nazis) and builds fame and fortune in the U.S. turns around and calls America "the gravest threat to world freedom".
He and people like him call the defence of our land, freedoms and ideals "fascism", while Islamofascists who daily maim, torture and blow up innocent people are deemed "victims of U.S. oppression". He supports the very ideals that drove him to the U.S. in the first place.
Chomsky and Soros were separated at insanity I tell ya.
