The idea is that if they say &quot;it&#039;s not on our end&quot;, you will do something on *your* end, and think whatever YOU did fixed it. 

Generally, an ISP does this when they are embarrassed to explain the problem. Like &quot;someone decided to warm up a ham sandwich by placing it on top of the router&#039;s ventilation grille, so the router overheated and shut down&quot;.</description>
