 Outside the Beltway

Stop Telling Him What To Write

Chris Bowers is sick and tired of well-heeled liberal activist groups lobbying him to write about their issues who won’t say nice things about the netroots or send some serious cash his way.

Update: Mike Krempasky points out that this “problem” isn’t limited to the Left: “Go find 10 people who got great degrees and took jobs at think tanks or conservative non-profits in DC, and you’ll find a lot of people with roommates eating ramen noodles.” Sadly, true.

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia.

I tend to think Bowers' reaction here is partially due to the 'netroots' not getting their due..(He thinks) in the halls of the DNC.

Bowers has yet to reckon with the concept that he's out of touch with and far left of, his own party, much less the remainder of the nation. He's starting to feel the consequences of that position, and he's not liking it.

Tough.

I remember, back in the mid/late 90's, seeing a comparison between the budgets of right- and left-wing foundations. The budget of the Heritage Foundation, IIRC, was greater than the budgets of at least the top three, and maybe the top ten, liberal/left foundations.
