Taking On 9/11 Conspiracy Theorists (Video)

Popular Mechanics is doing it in a forthcoming book titled Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can’t Stand Up to the Facts set to be released a week from today. For every rational human being, this book probably seems unnecessary. Why even bother acknowledging the crackpots on the fringe, right?

Well, according to a new poll by Scripps Howard/Ohio University, it’s not just the fringe: “More than a third of the American public suspects that federal officials assisted in the 9/11 terrorist attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could go to war in the Middle East.”

And that’s truly disturbing.

So, in the interest of educating that third of the population, here’s video from last night’s O’Reilly Factor featuring Jim Meigs, the Editor-In-Chief of Popular Mechanics, discussing the new book and some of the most common 9/11 conspiracy theories out there:

Popular Mechanics has also set up a blog about the book and posted the introduction and the forward–written by Sen. John McCain–online as well. Check it all out.

This is a start. And then can you please proceed with all the other nutcase conspiracies (both right and left) that are out there? How about the large number of people who still think Iraq had WMDs?

THere were plenty of loony conspiracy theories over Okhlahoma city as well ..

On the other hand, not all the Waco theories were loony (although most were), since there are some genuine unanswered questions about that standoff.

TWA flight 800 had even more unanswered questions, and I have to admit that I can't dismiss all doubters as conspiracy nuts.
