Amy Alkon visits Hot Springs, Arkansas, which she dubs, “The Town That Jenny Craig Forgot.” She has photographs explaining how it earned that title.

Of her flight there, she invokes Cathy Seipp: “I believe your right to overeat ends where my airplane seat begins.” Having been in the same situation myself–and needing every milimeter of precious seat space in those tiny coach seats–I can’t disagree.

anybody who is willing to be treated like a convict at check-in shouldn't mind being seated next to the circus fat lady. why get all assertive that late in the game?
