“The Undetectables”
One of my very best friends is co-starring in this new television show, which basically fuses “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” “Extreme Makeover,” and “Bill Nye the Science Guy“:
Every house has a secret… A world that exists behind the walls and under the floorboards… An alien place populated by millions of creatures… some bizarre… some downright lethal… Welcome to the Discovery Channel’s new limited series, THE UNDETECTABLES.[...]
Half reality show, half “Fantastic Voyage,” employs a dynamic SWAT team for the invisible worldâfive experts who are charged with seeking out the dangers of a microbial realm that exists right inside our homes: PJ Aspuria, the microbiologist; Steve Sandalis, the contractor; Dr. Marc Riedl, specialist in allergens and immunology; Chris Hardie, pest expert; and mold specialist Rich Valdez. Swabbing and testing every room and surface, they use the latest in high-tech gadgetry–from thermal scanners to the Crimescope forensic light… plus the unparalleled computer graphics of Zoic Studios (the company that creates the special effects for the hit series CSI: Miami).
Yes, my friend would be “the microbiologist.” If you’ve ever wondered what enterprising doctoral students in the hard sciences do in their spare time, now you know.
The show premieres on the Discovery Channel tonight at 8:00 p.m. I’m all too aware that this time slot is already occupied by a ratings behemoth, so let me duly note that the pilot episode repeats at 11:00 p.m. Just tune in, okay? We’re all quite proud of Mr. Aspuria.

Well, okay, with more than twenty minutes to spare, Still...
I saw the show and really enjoyed it. I learned a lot from the show. I hope they decide to air it on a regular basis. They guys are funny but get down to business.
