Security Scare at U.S. Treasury Offices

I received notification via a friend that works there that the main Departement of Treasury building in DC was under security alert this morning. An all clear has been given and all are back at work.

A K-9 alerted on a vehicle on 15th Street. As a precaution, Metropolitan Square was evacuated and Main Treasury employees were moved away from the east side.

Details via the AP:

Car near Treasury prompts security caution

Treasury Department officials asked people to move away from windows in one section of the main building Thursday after a suspicious car was sighted outside. Staffers and reporters were told to move to the hallway. Norman Foote, the building’s security specialist, said the building was not being evacuated. The suspicious vehicle was being investigated by authorities.

The department is next to the White House. The security precautions were taken several hours after a series of explosions rocked the British transit system in London.

Interesting.
