VERIZON STRIKE
WaPo reports that 78,000 employees from Verizon, the Baby Bell that covers Maine to Virginia, are likely to go out on strike at midnight. The interesting thing is that, because so many of us have cell phones these days, most people won’t notice.

Well, if you have pre-existing service, it won't be much of a problem. The problems is if your service goes out or if you're ordering new service.
Back in summer 2000, during that strike, I was moving and needed to call about moving my phone number. When I asked the woman when I should expect service at my new home, she replied December. I kid you not. I nearly fell over. Happy ending to the story is that I *only* had to wait two weeks as the strike ended the day after I called.
