What public policy rationale is that, aside from wanting to subsidize marriage for some reason? Besides, it sounds like VA was already subsidizing singles too, so they aren't going to be treating gay couples any different than singles. Besides, it sounds like VA was already subsidizing singles too, so they aren't going to be treating gay couples any different than singles.

There are people out there who would never earned property if they hadn't pooled resources with platonic friends, and then bought out the friends. The government shouldn't be in this business.
