It was not a response to famine in Ethiopia.  It was ham-handed effort by a bunch of spoiled brats who had gotten shown up by the Brits and their &quot;Do They Know It&#039;s Christmas,&quot; which is a vastly superior song, and actually was a response borne out of concern for the African people.
