John Hawkins is tired of Pogo, Peanuts, Cathy, and other retched strips that have long been taking up space in the comics section of newspapers. He wants Day by Day to take their place and for Berkeley Breathed and Gary Larson to get their lazy butts out of retirement.
I’m all for that. I’d also add Bill Watterson to the unretire list and nominate Cox & Forkum for new inclusions. And, frankly, virtually every strip other than Dilbert, Tank McNamara, and Mallard Fillmore could go.

Amen to Berkeley Breathed and Bill Watterson, two of my favorites. Calvin's imagination was one of my daily staples and who knows the last time I saw a good drawing of a portly penguin in a fruit covered hat carrying an umbrella. And I have it on good authority that Steve Dallas was modeled on me. I still do not recall when Berkeley watched me through a crack in the blinds as I paraded around the house unshaven, clad only in my dingy BVDs, a cigarette dangling from my lips holding a glass full of the hair of the dog attempting to focus my bloodshot eyes.
Foxtrot and Get Fuzzy can stay as well.
Who's still running Pogo?
