I’m currently in the middle of the pack in the Playful Primates competition, which is a rather odd mix of longtime heavyweights who have fallen a few notches of late like VodkaPundit and Daily Pundit; longtime bloggers like Virginia Postrel and Meryl Yourish; and some new kids on the block such as Electric Venom and OTB. Strangely, two blogs I never read and which are totally off the Ecosystem radar screen are currently running away with the Best New Blog category. Related Stories:

It's just like the political pros always say: it's that ground-level get out the vote stuff that really makes the difference!

'Tis true.

Also, never underestimate the effect of a small, committed core deleting their cookies after voting, and then voting again.

Why am I not surprised who posted that?

Neither should you underestimate the placement of the vote on the ballots. James, most people simply aren't bothering to go that far down the page. Look at the difference in vote totals as you scroll down even during the "major" categories. And it seems the left side of the blogospohere doesn't want any real part in the action. Best liberal blog has vote tallies in the hundreds. Maybe tomorrow I'll mess with some of the lower level tallies by endorsing candidates and asking my readers to vote for them. Bribes will be accepted, of course. No, I'm not serious. I'll be out all day tomorrow, you'll have to wait until Tuesday.
