What’s Up With Google?

A few days ago, Google’s Adsense started taking quite a long time to generate reports that were previously instantaneous. Now, G-Mail is starting to display a “loading” bar when I click on my account, rather than simply rendering my inbox as before.
It doesn’t appear to be a server issue, as there’s a graphical display in both cases indicating that processing is going on and there wasn’t before.

I have had some similar problems. The gmail slow-load for some time, and recently with Google Reader. They tend to be fixed by cache-clearing.
I have noticed, however, that it may be a Firefox issue and not a Google one. I noted that the Reader problem was happening in Firefox (pre-cache clearing) but wouldn't happen in IE.
I have had trouble with YouTube embeds and other videos in Firefox lately if I have a lot of tabs open.
What ISP do you use? Are they throttling Google traffic over their network?
Steven, what Firefox are you using? I noticed that mine (ff3.0 b5) was running slowly because of a bug in the anti-phishing measures. Turning them off helped significantly.

I've had the same problems, now that you mention it.
One thing I've grown to hate about Firefox is their constant "upgrades," which they give you no choice but to accept if you wish to keep using the product. Maybe it's time to switch to Safari....

That's usually the price you pay for free software, long term support is expensive, especially if you're improving your software rapidly.

Sure, if you use a Mac. Though I could use Konqueror or Epiphany, I still like my Firefox extensions too much. Really though, anything that isn't Internet Explorer benefits everybody else who doesn't use Internet Explorer.

There's a pretty good Safari for Windows variant out there that my wife's been using lately. I'd have switched over by now but REALLY love the Browser Synch plugin for Firefox which allows me to synchronize my nav toolbar across multiple computers, standardizing my workflow.

Unless it's the same ISP at home and at work. Or even just using the same network between you and Google.

It must have improved substantially lately then. I tried it when Apple first released it, and it was terrible. Still, the visual disconnect between Windows and Safari would still bother me. Doing web-development work, though, Firefox is irreplaceable.
I've had complaints from some readers that my google ads were hanging pages on and off.

Give Opera a try. Dunno if it has all the bells and whistles you guys mention, but it's pretty fast. Of course, I'm not as intensive a web cowboy as you guys seem to be, so it might not serve.
No, I've noticed the same problems with my gmail and I use IE (yeah, I know, leave me alone). I have the same issues on both my work and home computer, which don't run on the same ISP. I wonder what it could be....
