Interesting story, though I wish it had been written better. I’m confused on some points in which the writer seemed to believe that the reader was already familiar with. Coakly does appear to have entered into the story late, and certainly meets the Roland Burris standard for legitimizing jury convictions against evidence of fraud and perjury.

That’s because the WSJ editorial page wrote editorial and op-ed after op-ed on the case throughout the 1990s, IIRC. So they just assume you’ve read those.

  3. PD Shaw says:

Ugh, you’re right, that’s exactly how it reads, but I subscribed to the Nation back in the 90s. I found this piece by Katha Pollitt explaining what happened easier for my poor brain to comprehend.

  4. Brett says:

Jesus Christ. Croakley sounds like an egomaniacal, self-righteous asshole, which is what I guess she was.

  5. Wayne says:

If all else fail the Dems will find the needed ballots in their trunks,

Well that’s good since the Demmie candidate is Martha Coakley

  7. PD:

I had the same reaction–it struck me as poorly written in the extreme. It was very difficult to follow.

If all else fail the Dems will find the needed ballots in their trunks…

I guess they do what they must, considering they don’t have the Supreme Court to help them with elections…

  9. Bill H says:

And this is who Barack Obama is going to Mass to campaign for? IOKIYAD, I guess.

  10. brainy435 says:

Sorry Triumph, but Coakley is running for the senate seat from Massachusettes. Must be a different candidate….
