are lawmakers a protected class?or is it still ok to call them effing idiots? does anyone remember when adult ment "grown-up" and not obscene?i sorely miss the days when a crude lack of manners got you a bloody nose and not a run-in with an idiot government gone crazy.
One of the more disturbing aspects of the Drudge story is that the only evidence that led to an arrest was the word of a cashier at a Taco Bell. Who else heard the alleged hate speech? And that the cashier's manager was saying that he's gotten into these kinds of incidents before.

Who honestly thinks that if a white person is working a cash register and a black customer called them a honkey that the police would slap on the blue lights and come to their rescue? If Taco Bell can't provide audio evidence of a slur, then this 19 year old woman has been nationally slandered and would probably have a tough time finding a job in her home state afterwards.

More PC run amok.

There was a line in chaplinsky that struck me.

"There are certain well-defined and narrowly limited classes of speech, the prevention and punishment of which have never been thought to raise any Constitutional problem. These include the lewd and obscene, the profane, the libelous, and the insulting or 'fighting' words--those which by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace."

Now look up the definition of 'Profane'.
Main Entry: 1pro·fane
Pronunciation: prO-'fAn, pr&-
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): pro·faned; pro·fan·ing
Etymology: Middle English prophanen, from Latin profanare, from profanus
1 : to treat (something sacred) with abuse, irreverence, or contempt : DESECRATE
2 : to debase by a wrong, unworthy, or vulgar use
- pro·fan·er noun

Main Entry: 2profane
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English prophane, from Middle French, from Latin profanus, from pro- before + fanum temple -- more at PRO-, FEAST
1 : not concerned with religion or religious purposes : SECULAR
2 : not holy because unconsecrated, impure, or defiled : UNSANCTIFIED
3 : serving to debase or defile what is holy : IRREVERENT
4 a : not being among the initiated b : not possessing esoteric or expert knowledge
- pro·fane·ly adverb
- pro·fane·ness /-'fAn-n&s/ noun

So maybe the followers of the religeon of peace that are looking to chop off the heads of the cartoonist are just looking to enforce a prohibition against a well defined and narrowly limited class of speech, namely profanity.

But if thats so, can we string up all the liberals who came to the defense of 'Piss Christ'?

Funny how no one's picking up on this part:

"Byrd's supervisor told police that Byrd should not have been working the drive-through because he had gotten into a similar incident with another customer, the warrant states."

Once is happenstance...

Next time someone says I am born of the monkey, I want them arrested for "racial epithets" and I don't care what state I am in. Why all the stuiped laws, how about this one: Any one caught useing a "racial epithet" when they are mad at someone, and found gulity of said crime must wear a sign for one day that states(I am a stupid A-Hole with a big Mouth). You think this might slow it down. You do know that freedom of speach, and freedom to be a dumbass are two differant things. And where in the Great Blue Hell are the Treehugers on this one, do you how many trees had to be cut down in their prime(no pun intended)for the paper that this waste of time was written down on. gee, you could use a couple of recycled crack houses for the signs for my law.
