Bryon Scott’s Nazi Tie

New Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott wore a swastika tie to media day. Given that there are good reasons to doubt Scott has Nazi sympathies or is a covert member of the Aryan Brotherhood, we'll chalk this up to an honest mistake.

New Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott wore a swastika tie to media day:

Given that there are good reasons to doubt Scott has Nazi sympathies or is a covert member of the Aryan Brotherhood, we’ll chalk this up to an honest mistake.  But that doesn’t mean he can’t get some good natured ribbing.

  • Deadspin’s David Matthews snarks that this fashion choice “confused many of the racists throughout Cuyahoga county.”
  • Sports Grid’s Dan Fogerty observes, “While it was no doubt an unfortunate mistake, it may have been helpful for a member of the Cavs PR team to have pulled Scott aside and said, ‘Hey coach… you know there’s swastikas on your tie?'”
  • Terez Owens calls it “a throwback” from the 1940s.
  • Mike Tomasky adds, “And here I thought every guy watched a little Military Channel and History Channel.”
