Cheney Endorses Croatia, Albania and Macedonia for NATO

Vice President Dick Cheney endorsed Croatia, Albania and Macedonia for NATO membership saying they would “help us rededicate ourselves to the basic and fundamental values of freedom and democracy.”

Ten years ago, I’d have called that notion absurd. The cat is already out of the bag, though, with NATO having long beome a gigantic collection of 26 states, most of which contribute nothing real to the defense of the others.
