Clinton: Obama Passed ‘3 a.m.’ Test

Hillary Clinton tells George Stephanopoulous that President Obama has passed her test:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said President Barack Obama has “absolutely” answered questions she posed during the Democratic campaign about his lack of experience and ability to handle an international crisis.

In her first Sunday show interview since her presidential bid ended a year ago, I asked Clinton if Obama answered the questions she raised in her campaign’s “3a.m.” ad.

“Absolutely,” Clinton told me in an exclusive “This Week” Sunday show interview– her first as secretary of state.  “And, you know, the president in his public actions and demeanor, and certainly in private with me and with the national security team, has been strong, thoughtful, decisive, I think he is doing a terrific job,” she said, “And it’s an honor to serve with him.”

Granting that Obama’s only been in office a little over four months,  I can’t offhand think of any crises with which he’s dealt that would have required rousing him from bed in the wee hours.

  2. Dave Schuler says:

I’m sure she knows of one but if she told you about it she’d have to kill you.

  3. G.A.Phillips says:

    has been strong, thoughtful, decisive,

LOLOLOLOL………If any of you believe this I’m wiling to bet you have purchased many many carbon credits and own a bridge or two, or maybe a car company.

Its 3 a.m. a phone rings in the white house, a record apology answers it. Yes his teleprompter is hooked to W.H. switchboard, have no fear all is well.

  5. just me says:

Honestly that was a dumb question and even dumber answer, because what else was she supposed to say? Did the reporter really think she would be honest if she didn’t think he could pass the test?

  6. Boyd says:

I’ll be willing to bet that one of the major motivations behind the question was to get the Secretary to admit she was wrong about her campaign statement.

“Journalist’s” creed: never pass up an opportunity to say, “gotcha!”

Sure but anyone with half a brain would know that her answer isn’t really her opinion anyway, because there can be no answer but “Yes he has passed the test with flying colors” when she is part of the administration.

“pssst…mr…MR PRESIDENT….it’s 3am, it’s June, it’s snowing in North Dakota and Prius sales in the US are down 45%…your agenda Sir…DO SOMETHING”.

  9. Ottovbvs says:

James, this guy has been thrown more “tests” than any president since Kennedy (Cuban missiles), Truman or FDR. So far he’s coming through all of them with flying colors. My political memory goes back to Eisenhower and Obama is dominating the domestic political and international stage like no president since Kennedy or early Johnson. Usually you’re not in denial like most on the right but I think you’ve slipped into the trap here. I don’t want to sound like a groupie but there’s no getting around the fact that at just about every level the guy is outstanding and the US has had one of its periodic strokes of luck.

  13. Who else instantly pictured Hillary prank calling the WH at 3 am?

And I guess some think that Bush passed that test with flying colors…

Ya if you like your flapping flags to be red with gold stars or white.

More of the communist/socialist nonsense…oh well, it seems that’s all some conservatives have left…be careful when the knock comes at the door…they could be coming to take you off to the reeducation camp…

Well, they have to beat him up somewhere, I guess…they’re having little luck anywhere else…

  20. MrDuffin says:

All Obama has done is roll over and show our enemies his belly. He is an embarassment and a coward who is going to make us broke and blownup.

  21. Wayne says:

Unemployment close to 10%, exploding deficit, alienating our allies, getting laugh at by our enemies, taking over private companies, energy prices on the rise and you are calling that an outstanding job. I suppose reading a speech off a teleprompter and having the MSM kiss his ass is what you are looking for out of a President not me.

  22. An Interested Party says:

Perception is a funny thing…I suspect that more people would be closer to Ottovbvs’s line of thinking than that of MrDuffin and Wayne…still, I guess you have to try to convince people! Keep trying…

  23. Wayne says:

    AIP
Perception is a funny thing. However all you and Otto have put forth so far is that you two think Obama has been tested more than any other President since Kennedy, Truman and FDR and that you both think he is great. How about giving us something more than you “feel’ that way? Forgive the rest of us for not automatically agreeing with you.

  24. An Interested Party says:

Excuse me, but I haven’t put forth anything like that…I merely typed that more people are probably closer to agreeing with his opinion rather than yours…as far as feelings are concerned, you claimed that the president is “alienating our allies, getting laugh[ed] at by our enemies” and “I suppose reading a speech off a teleprompter and having the MSM kiss his ass…” How about backing up your opinion of the president with a little bit more than just your feelings…

  25. Gail says:

I think it is funny that you didn’t mention the sexist way that George asked questions of SOS. for instance see this:

STEPHANOPOULOS: The president has a very high-powered team: Vice President Biden, General Jones, Secretary Gates. You’ve got envoys for Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea. How do you fit in?

    (LAUGHTER)

    CLINTON: Well, I…

STEPHANOPOULOS: What is your role, exactly?

CLINTON: Well, my role is as the chief diplomat for the United States of America. And, you know, when I agreed to do this job, I made it very clear to the president that I would be able to run the State Department and USAID and that we would have to forge a team that I think we’ve done very well, and that I wanted special envoys, because we were inheriting so many hotspot problems that I knew you could never have one person possibly address all of that.

Can you believe that George asked this question and thought it was appropraite? I find it unbelievable that no one has learned one thing from the campaign about how Women are preceived. George asked her as if she was sitting home eating chocolates while “the men” did all the work. GIVE ME A BREAK!

  26. Wayne says:

    AIP
You must have missed the part of my post that said
“Unemployment close to 10%, exploding deficit, taking over private companies, energy prices on the rise”

Typical liberal, read only the part you want and ignore the rest.
Also “alienating our allies, getting laugh[ed] at by our enemies” and “I suppose reading a speech off a teleprompter” have been reported in the press so they are as much fact as opinion. Many in Germany and Israel have been reported to be upset with Obama. Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter has been well reported as well.

All of which is more than a outright opinion statement like “Obama sucks or he is idiot”
