Dick Morris Out At Fox News Channel

Dick Morris’s positively horrible punditry over the past several election cycles has finally caught up with him:

Fox News has decided not to renew its contract with political commentator and pollster Dick Morris, an industry official tells POLITICO’s Mike Allen.

Morris, who was on contract with Fox News throughout the 2012 presidential campaign, had not appeared on the network for almost three months after Fox News president Roger Ailes decided to keep him off the network. He is scheduled to appear on CNN on Wednesday.

The CNN appearance appears to be just a guest appearance on Piers Morgan’s show. Presumably, CNN would not be stupid enough to hire this guy, would they?

They hired Piers Morgan, didn’t they?

Morris is a rare breed. I call it the “180″ demographic. As in 180 degrees away from correct.

We’ve all said stupid things, and we’ve all made horrible predictions. We’ve all been proven incorrect. But Morris fell into that “exclusive” category of always being wrong. Completely wrong. About everything. Not even within the ballpark of sentient, much less correct. Spectacularly wrong. Even Jim Cramer can’t hold a candle to Dick Morris, which is saying something.

I seriously doubt CNN will take a flyer on him. But clearly there’s room in the talk radio universe for a guy like Dick Morris.

It´s even worse than you all think: Dick wrote the following in a recent article:

“Chavez now controls Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Ecuador as well as Venezuela and has big influence in Brazil. He is providing a base for Iran to move into the hemisphere.”

Chavez does not control Argentina, he does not control Ecuador, he is despised in Brazil(Including by a majority of senators). You just have to look at the Latinbarometer polls.

One less idiot on Fox (at least until they find a new idiot to replace him). They also should have kicked Rove to the curb because his predictions were almost equally bad, but I guess he has more money and power behind him than Morris.

First Palin and now Morris – it seems like there’s a purge inside Fox news.

    That’s a shame.
I was able to successfully prognosticate a phenomenally high percentage of the last few election cycles by going against everything Morris said.

Now who do I look at?

    Cheers.

isn’t Billy Kristol running neck-and-neck with Morris when it comes to percentage of wrong predictions?

@Andre Kenji: Oh lord….someone should point out to Morris that Chavez is just about to keel over with cancer and the main question within Venezuela is who will take over from him.

It is a sad day when a clueless buffoon with no insight into politics and only the slimmest grasp of reality can’t get a job as a pundit. My God, people, he might try some other job, something important, something where he could hurt someone. He could become a dental hygienist or even a fast food restaurant manager. Imagine the harm he could do, now that he has escaped into the wild.

@grumpy realist: If you look at correct predictions from Morris and Kristol, I believe both are approaching Dr. Krugman’s Zero Bound.

@gVOR08: it’s idiots like Morris and Kristol which make me think longingly of the French Revolution solution. I still think the world would be a better place if we took all pundits, ranked them at the end of each year as to the accuracy of their projections, and the worst 10% would have to take a vow of silence for the next year.

On another thread a few months ago, I called him the Dyslexic Prophet. You heard it here first.

isn’t Billy Kristol running neck-and-neck with Morris when it comes to percentage of wrong predictions?

In quantity, perhaps, if not quality. Last I knew, Kristol isn’t the author of a book called Condi vs. Hillary, nor did he write an article titled “No way Obama wins in 2012.”

It’s not just the consistent wrongness of Morris’s predictions that makes him one of a kind, it’s how certain he always is, even after having had his claims receive the opposite of vindication countless times before.
