DW-World analyzes the German decision to veto NATO aid for Turkey here. (Link via Google News.) While this move acts as an additional irritant to the already-strained relationship between Bush and Shroeder, the damage to US-German relations is hardly “irreperable.” This is simply a situation where the interests of The World’s Sole Superpower and those of a regional power diverge. On most issues, the West will continue to have consensus in that our cultures and interest are much more alike than different.
