“Fauxtography” At U.S. News And The New York Times?

Michelle Malkin provides the evidence here. You be the judge, but it looks pretty damning to me.

NYT:

Help…

…me…

…pretend to be dead.

U.S. News:

A devastating Israeli strike…

…on Hezbollah’s garbage dump.

But, really, it stinks…

(F.Y.I. The term “fauxtography” was born at LGF here.)

Fauxtography? Really? That’s what y’all are going to call it?

You are aware that we’ve been calling Fox News “Faux News” for years now, right?

You might want to get in touch with your webmasters (Malkin, Johnson, et.al.) and suggest a name change.

    Oh, and….. Go, Ned! 😉

  2. Dean Esmay says:

Possibly the NYT thing was just a mistake by whoever wrote the original misleading caption. The current caption is still a little odd but more within the realm of the possible.

  3. Hal says:

This – and the whole Lieberman web site laugh-a-thon – is the equivalent of barrel scrapings. I can’t believe how desperate y’all are.

I’d say pathetic, but it’s really just sad.

  4. Matt says:

IT is about time we stood up and did something about terrorist propaganda. The real question is why try to influence everyone? doh Israel is screwed… still trying controlled leaks and what not. They should hire a Hollywood director and … that is a joke. Hang in there, the truth is coming out.

  5. Jim says:

I noticed the US News photo when it originally came out…tire fires make very good photogenic smoke. I was surprised that more people didn’t make an issue of it…however unlike photoshopping pictures or having civilians ‘play dead’ that photo isn’t really fake. There was no attempt to portray the fire as anything but what it is. (Of course cover photos usaully don’t have captions).

  6. walter66 says:

what is Michelle Malkin actually saying here…..that the IDF is so totally incompetent in the use of highly sophisticated weapons supplied by the US that death and destruction has to be staged?

I think Israel is doing a fine job of destroying Lebanon and her people.

  7. DC Loser says:

All them Ay-rabs look alike, huh?

  8. JKB says:

Look this has got to stop. How can the MSM shape public opinion with the bloggers revealing ever little piece of false reporting? It is one thing to claim power to the people, it is quite another for them to use it. I mean, come on, these people paid a lot of money for Ivy league Journalism degrees and letting a little thing like the truth get in the way is hardly using that investment to the fullest. I’m sure they still offer journalism ethics courses but they must be an elective along with Photoshopping 201. Guess we can tell which elective most students sign up for.

  9. walter66 says:

it’s bad enough that Iranian spy Ahmed Chalabi duped President Bush into furthering Iran’s stature in the ME by knocking off Saddam and becomeing “bogged down” in Iraq, now we got the MSM trying to do the same

  10. walter66 says:

too bad those bloggers that are exposing the lies of the MSM couldn’t or wouldn”t expose Iranian spy Ahmed Chalabi’s lies

  11. LJD says:

For Cripes sake, please don’t shake the very foundation of your belief system, right?

Len: “But Fox is fake, too”

    Dean: “Nothing ot see here”

Hal: “Only the propaganda is news, not the fact that it IS propaganda”

    Walt: “Fake but accurate”

    DC: “Offhand remark implying racism”

    Walt: “But look at Iraq!”

NO, YOU GUYS are really sad. Such willing disregard for the truth clearly illustrates your desire to live in f-ing la-la land.

Thank God you’re not in charge of securing our country.

  12. walter66 says:

and being duped by Iranian spy Ahmed Chalabi is securing our country?

  13. walter66 says:

MOST Americans disapprove of Bush’s handling of terrorism. A new Washington Post/ABC poll shows 50 percent disapprove of his handling of terrorism (vs. 47 percent approval)

I call James’s rule of 50% on this one…..that’s where 50% means most and not half

  14. DC Loser says:

Thank God you’re not in charge of securing our country.

Don’t be so sure about that 😉
