George Allen Hires Jon Henke

QandO’s Jon Henke has been hired as the Netroots Coordinator for George Allen’s re-election campaign.

A good move, I think, on the campaign’s part. Henke is a Virginia blogger and highly regarded. He’s on the libertarian side, so there might be some grumbling from social conservatives, but they’re in Allen’s camp, anyway.

Since seeing the announcement that the campaign was looking to hire a blogger to help undo the damage caused by the Macaca mess, I have wondered if they would actually have the sense to take good advice from whomever they hired. Allen’s spokesman has made one boneheaded statement after another, digging his candidate in deeper each day in what should have been a one day story. We’ll see if there’s a change of direction now.

Why on earth would anybody support Allen when they have Webb as an alternative? This namebrand loyalty thing is stupid.
