Fox News Channel is reporting that the coalition forces have made an alliance with the Kurds in northern Iraq, who will allow us to stage some operations from their area and provide some modest ground support. Here’s hoping we reward them for their help and help establish an independent Kurdistan when this is over. If Turkey doesn’t like it, well, that’s an added bonus.

KURDS R US: William Safire’s column The Kurdish Ghost is worthwhile reading. It is rather amazing that, given how well the US has treated the Turks and how badly we’ve treated the Kurds, that the former are much less cooperative than the latter in our efforts in Iraq.
