Lebanese Troops Deploy Around Syrian Intel Headquarters

Lebanon Troops Deploy Around Syrian Intel Headquarters (Reuters)

Lebanese commandos, backed by armored troop carriers, deployed around the headquarters of the Syrian intelligence service in Beirut on Saturday, witnesses said. Dozens of commandos and five troop carriers took up positions on crossroads leading to the headquarters in the Ramlat al-Baida neighborhood. Syrian tpoops and intelligence officers were still in the headquarters, the witnesses said.

This is coming to a head much faster than expected. A leisurely withdrawal by May, derided by some as wishful thinking a week ago, now seems pessimistic.
