McCain ‘Broken’ ‘Family’

The McCain campaign has launched two new ad videos in consecutive days under the titles “Broken” and “Family.” I find the juxtaposition amusing.  The spots themselves strike me as weak but, as I keep reminding myself, I’m not the target audience.

“Broken”

Washington’s broken. John McCain knows it. We’re worse off than we were four years ago.

Only McCain has taken on big tobacco, drug companies, fought corruption in both parties. He’ll reform Wall Street, battle Big Oil, make America prosper again.

He’s the original maverick.

One is ready to lead — McCain.

Somehow, I’m reminded of “Babylon 5.”

“Family”

Is the biggest celebrity in the world ready to help your family?

The real Obama promises higher taxes, more government spending. So, fewer jobs.

Renewable energy to transform our economy, create jobs and energy independence, that’s John McCain.

The problem with this is that both candidates favor all these things and neither will have the ability to achieve them.

What I find interesting and/or amusing about the first ad is that it could practically also be an ad for Obama, or practically any other Democrat. Just change the end to something about change instead of something about a maverick. And pictures of a windfarm and battling big oil? What is he, a tree-hugger? 🙂

I’d love to see an ad with pictures of oil refineries and off-shore oil platforms. The voice-over should be: “Want cheap gas? This is how it’s done, and John McCain knows how to get it done.” It would be entertaining, if nothing else, and I bet it would even energize his base.

So of course the answer is to vote for the person who has been in Washington for the last 26 years, and who supported the policies of the outgoing Administration, instead of the one who was elected 4 years ago and opposed those policies. Sounds like Bithead is now writing ads for McCain.

Interesting to note that McCain has a long list of TV and movie credits including informative news programs such as “The Tony Danza Show” and “WWF Raw”.

    Here comes the counter ad:

Is the oldest celebrity in the world ready to help your family?

Yep – sure is. Mc Cain’s answer is try to castigate the Dems in Congress for leaving for vacation w/o voting to open up drilling off shore & in ANWAR in a speech earlier today (or was it yesterday?) Really big talk from a Senator who has not been present to cast a vote since April 8 & counting.

Again, how do you spell hypocrite? Sounds to me like he is part of the problem.
