Meg Whitman’s Campaign Spending Up To $ 139,000,000
This number is really just astounding:
California GOP gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman has contributed an additional $20 million to her own campaign.
The latest contribution was made Tuesday night while much of the political press corps was focused on her heated debate with her Democratic opponent Jerry Brown, a source told POLITICO.
The former eBay CEO has now contributed $139 million of her own funds to her record-setting campaign. Whitman has pledged to spend up to $150 million of her own cash on the campaign.
And yet, Whitman seems to have stopped rising in the polls and Brown appears to be breaking away:
No doubt Whitman will throw a lot of money in to an ad blitz over the last two weeks. Will it be enough to turn things around? We’ll see.
And still no coherent message, which casts a little doubt on her rep as a crackerjack executive.
At least she ain’t running ads saying, “I’m one of you.”
You know, with numbers this big, wouldn’t “Meg Whitman donates $100,000,000 to California schools” or “libraries” be a better headline?
If you ask me, that would have gotten her more votes.
