More EC Fun

Via The Hill:  Over 50 Dem electors now demanding intelligence briefing

More than 50 Democratic voters in the Electoral College are now asking for an intelligence briefing from Director of National Intelligence James Clapper over reports of Russian meddling in the election, according to a report in Politico.

Fifty-four of 232 Democratic electors have now signed a letter asking for a briefing before the Electoral College votes Dec. 19.

Ok, so a portion of the electors from the losing party wants a briefing?  Drama, indeed.

(Yes, snark, but the hyperventilation on this issue is getting hard to take.  As I have repeatedly noted, I do not like this institution and think that it violates basic democratic theory.  But, it is the constitutional process with which we are saddled and fantasies that the EC will rise up and change the outcome from November 8th is, as I keep saying, pure fantasy).

For all the guys out there who are imagining the virtues of cultivating faithless electors: Please note that at least some, if not most or all, of these electors are looking for justification to not vote for Hillary.

This is it … America had a nice run (marred only by slavery, and the denial of many basic rights of citizenship to many non White-male people) for about 240 years. But, we’re on the long decline now. Are we ready for the meteor?

@al-Alameda: I figured W took ten or twenty years off the “American Century”. Trump’s after the rest of it. Silver lining for W, he probably won’t now end up as the worst president of the 21st Century.
