Nagin Considers Gubernatorial Bid

Political Wire passes on a CNN report that New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (D) “is seriously considering a Louisiana gubernatorial bid” and has raised half a million dollars towards that end. Leaving aside my complete ignorance of election-finance laws, couldn’t this just be a scam? Nagin raises a couple of million for his “run,” decides against it … and keeps the $$$?

I wonder if he’ll be able 2 find a campaign bus?

  5. William d'Inger says:

Smart move. He has the name recognition that would carry him into the runoff. No other widely known Democrat is willing to risk running against Jindal. Sure, Nagan would lose, but being in the runoff for governor looks good on a political resume.
