Dodd, who used to run a blog named ipse dixit, is an attorney, a veteran of the United States Navy, and a fairly good poker player. He can kill a mime using only his thumb.

For any of you that like the Dead’s music (not necessarily the scene, the music) you should check out the tribute band Dark Star Orchestra. They pack my local classic theater house.

One of the great, great CW songs of the late 50s was Marty Robbins’s beautiful and moving “El Paso”. The Dead covered it in a wonderful version. See it here. You can hear Robbins’s original here.
