Pentagon: 1,700 Sex Assaults Reported (AP)

Military criminal investigators received 1,700 reports of sexual assault in 2004 involving at least one member of the military, the Pentagon said Friday.

Reminds me of the joke about the statistic reported thusly (paraphrasing): “Every six minutes, a woman gives birth.”

To which some wag — I’m thinking Johnny Carson but ICBW — said, “We need to find this woman, and stop her!”

Hilarious, I’ve always said ain’t nothin’ funnier than sexual assault. Except maybe when it involves children. That reminds me of a great one, stop me if you’ve heard it: So Archbishop Law, Joseph Ratzinger, Pope JPII, and an 8-year-old boy walk into a bar… We’ll, I forget how the rest goes, but the punchline is “sinecure at the Vatican and promotions all round”. Ha, ha, oh Lordy!
