Poll: 40% of Mexicans Want to Live in U.S.

A new Pew poll reveals that 40 percent of Mexican adults would prefer to live in the United States, including a third of Mexican university graduates.

Poll: 40% of Mexicans want to move to U.S.

More than 40 percent of Mexican adults say they would move to the U.S. if they could, and 1 in 5 say they would do so illegally if necessary, according to surveys released yesterday by the Pew Hispanic Center. Surveys of 1,200 Mexican adults in February and 1,200 in May, conducted in their homes, show that Mexicans’ rising education levels have not weakened the desire to live and work in this country.

More than a third of Mexican college graduates say they would come to the U.S. if they could, and more than 1 in 8 would do so even if they had to enter the country illegally, according to the surveys, the first of their kind. “Contrary to what people might expect, the inclination to migrate isn’t contained among Mexicans who are poor or poorly educated or with limited economic prospects,” says Roberto Suro, director of the Pew Hispanic Center, a nonpartisan research group in Washington. “They’re distributed across the whole breadth of Mexican society.”

The numbers are startling but the general impulse is not.

And that’s just asking the ones still in Mexico.

  2. Tom Cruise says:

well, at least we know they can build their own houses. Thank God their army isn’t as good as their handymen or else they would just take Texas. lol

    gee, was that offensive?

  3. Most interesting to me in the Pew data: is isn’t just the poor who are clamoring for America. From a Wash Times article that I posted on today:

Among those with family incomes from three to seven times the Mexican minimum wage, 45 percent said they would go to live in the U.S. if they had the means and opportunity, while 47 percent of those with family incomes of less than three times the minimum wage said the same. Also, 35 percent of Mexicans with a college education said they would migrate to the U.S.

Then again, a significant number of citizen Hispanics don’t want ’em here: some 34% from the recent Greenberg survey of Hispanic US voters, a number that seems to be growing…

  4. Russ says:

Heck, I thought 40% of Mexicans already lived here.

  5. There was another poll from a couple years back in which 58% of Mexicans (in Mexico) said that the U.S. southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico.

Given the millions of Mexicans already in the U.S., and that sentiment, it gives a whole new light on how we should look upon those who support what is, in effect, an invasion. Is “quisling” really too strong a word for some of those who support massive illegal immigration?

But, on the other hand, they’re just kind-hearted people lookin’ to put food on the table to feed their families. Look, our immigration system is broken and needs fixin’. Family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande river. If you can make fifty cents in the interior of Mexico and five dollars in the interior of the United States, you’re comin’ for the five bucks and, therefore … and so long as moms and dads feel the necessity to feed their children, they’re gonna come and try to make a livin’. Now, about my guest worker plan…

I think the best thing to do would be to 1st of all incease the White Anglo American population suddenly & to a great & drastic extent. Second of all I feel that we should, through peaceful, honest, economic, & diplomatic means, bring in all of Mexico as well as Canada & Greenland. That would be it-no more expansionism ever again. Mexico has 31 states that could merge together to form 10 Mexican states as part of our Union. Third & finally, I feel that we should make repatriation the order of the day. Anyone from the Hispanic Carribean, Central America, South America, Africa, Asia, & Oceania should be trained, educated, & sent back to their ancestral homeland with a guaranteed, high-ranking position in their country’s economic infastructure so they can bring their nation up off its knees & no longer live in 3rd world conditions. Our Anglo American populace should be large enough[& then some] to absorb the entire Mexican & French Canadian populace. Now am I suggesting that their culture should vanish from sight in North America? A blunt HELL NO! That’s not what I meant because the Mexican & French Canadian culture is every bit as important as the Anglo North American cultures along with the Dano-Inuit culture of Greenland. I opposed to globalism, mercantile imperilism, & zionism[no I’m not antisemetic either] as well as this so-called war on terror & I think that it’s high time that we stop acting like the Soviets or the Red Chinese in trying to police & rule this godforsaken world. The war on Islam & the 3rd world is nothing more than a war for oil & the opium trade. This is why we’re loosing the war on drugs because our pig government is the biggest cartel on the face of the whole damn planet. If it’s not the oil in Iraq, then it’s the poppies in Afganistan. Another thing Israel is not our friend in fact they helped China to create fighter jets that are better than our own. Forget Israel! Well that’s about it from me. Take care & Godspeed.
