Priorities

Over at his other blog, Dave Schuler notes how uncommon the ability to prioritize seems to be.

Recognizing that one thing is bigger than another is a very basic skill. Babies can do it. My dogs can do it.

Of course, for babies and dogs, the range of options are much narrower and the priorites more obvious, usually centering on consuming food and eliminating same from the system.
