Romo and T.O.

This ad at right, hawking jerseys for Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys and Terrell Owens, late of the 49ers, Eagles, and Cowboys and now with the Buffalo Bills, was served in an RSS feed for Danger Room.

It’s just amazing that Romo and T.O. are such marketing phenoms that their jerseys are being marketed so aggressively to a national audience.  (Or is my Google Reader assessing metrics of my feeds, almost entirely non-sports related, and guessing I’m a Cowboys fan?)

Both are star athletes, to be sure.  But, despite two Pro Bowls in three years as a starter, Romo hasn’t won a single playoff game.  And T.O. is known more for his antics and dropped passes than his athleticism at this point.

Well, Look, James… your confusion does you credit, I’m sure. But look at your justified incredulity in the case of your post: “One of These Is Not Like the Other” and recalculate.

I dare to suggest to you that medeocrity is now not only acceptable among a certain segment of our society, but is desireable among them.

Might even explain Obama being elected, come to think of it.
