Sarah Palin Continues To Whine About The Press

Despite promises made last week, Sarah Palin is still complaining about what she claims is “unfair” press coverage:

The Daily Caller’s Chris Moody contacted Palin for a response to reports that her reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, got $1.2 million in state tax credits. Palin demanded that Moody print her entire 650-word response to the news. And he did–but only on the second page of the article. So Palin took to Facebook to rant about “having to set the record straight on my Facebook page yet again is further proof that the media can’t be trusted even to print a statement in a manner that people can read.”

Talking Points Memo’s Benjy Sarlin says the exchange offers a window into how Palin’s staff deals with the press. Moody told Sarlin that he was surprised by the Facebook post since he’d printed her whole statement. Moody told Sarlin that Palin’s spokesman would only provide at statement from Palin if Moody ran the entire thing–extremely rare in political reporting. “After some back and forth, I said I would write the story that accurately represented her view, with the full quotes available for readers. Her spokesman said that would be fine,” Moody says. But it wasn’t. “Goodness, cleaning up the sloppiness of reporters could be a full time job,” Palin groused.

At Salon, Alex Pareene says the episode offers a nice lesson in modern press relations. “Palin made the Caller jump through a ridiculous hoop to even obtain her self-serving statement, which it used to provide balance to what had been printed elsewhere as a negative, anti-Palin story, and its reward for jumping through that hoop was that she declared war. She is a very classy individual.”

Yep, that’s our Sarah. The difference is that it’s becoming evident that he act is wearing thin.

LOL, How many posts do you have to hive up on this issue before you think we will hear you. Didn’t you post on this same issue once or twice yesterday??? WTF, You must really be in withdrawal if you don’t get to post anything about Gov Palin. Now you are posting about the same non issue related to Palin 2 and 3 times. BTW, you’ve already said she was wearing thin or something to that effect approx 200 times already.

Meanwhile, in the real world, the country is increasingly coming to the conclusion that Obama is out of his league and in WAY over his head as his polls numbers (other than rigged polls such as DailyKOS/PPP, CNN & CBS) plummet. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Next time, instead of spending so much time on trivial matters related to Palin, you and the rest of your colleagues in the Wash DC/NY Liberal echo chamber will look into the candidate you are shilling for instead of just getting tingles up your legs over speeches and fluff.

what’s the issues in reporting on (redacted). if the press didnt report on (redacted) the complaint would be the “lame-stream media” was ignoring (redacted) because they were afraid of a strong conservitive woman. i say let the freak show coninue i love it. (redacted) is like a Gary Bauer in drag just not as smart and twice as popular.

One of the things Doug fails to understand in the ongoing battle between Palin and press is the perception the public has of the MSM.

Traditional news media has a popular approval rate somewhere between child molesters and used car salesmen. When Palin points out the hypocrisy and unfairness of the MSM, she is preaching to the choir, as most people believe they are lowlifes anyway.

  6. mantis says:

Why didn’t the Caller just give her the admin login and let her post whatever she wants?

    These people call themselves journalists?

  7. TG Chicago says:

I think Palin is a bit over-covered, but I think this story is more valuable than most. Palin only thinks coverage is fair if she dictates every word of it. That’s just bizzare.

Of course, the other option is that she knows exactly what she’s doing. She has no intention of running for elected office, but she wants to maintain her position as Wingnut Oprah. She’ll have to come up with some reason why she didn’t run to appease her masses who are convinced that she would be the best president ever. So she’s pushing this media feud to set up a “The media is preventing me from running for president! They are tearing me down so that I could never win.” deal.

That way, her supporters don’t blame her for not running, they blame the media. And as she pushes them away from media and towards herself, she bolsters her own brand. Her level of support drops numerically, but those remaining supporters believe her to be the sole arbiter of truth. Thus, she creates a permanent media empire as the information gatekeeper for her flock.

Honestly, I wonder if her model is based on televangelism. Oprah Winfrey + Pat Robertson.

So, right in Palin territory, then?

When Palin points out the hypocrisy and unfairness of the MSM

When does she do that? She just whines about them not being her stenographers. And she want to journalism school! Pathetic.

  9. RickPatel says:

Gorgeous Gov. Sarah Palin smacks down pipsqueak Tucker Carlson’s pseudo-conservative bunny-blog ‘Daily Caller’ on the same day she smacked down Obama’s vapid blather of an “energy speech”. You call that whining? Well, when you quote limpo loony-lefty sites such as TPM & Salon, we get your drift.

  10. deathcar2000 says:

the media is more popular than Sarah, but their stock seem to be in decline. Sarah’s and media’s of course. a race to the bottom i guess.

“Here’s another example of hypocrisy and unfairness by the left wing press:”

What does this have to do with Palin’s hilarious hypocrisy of accepting socialism dollars to help fund her vanity TV show?

Whenever someone tries to change the subject, it’s a good bet they got nothin’.

  15. TG Chicago says:

@jwest: Here’s some unfairness for you.

NewsBusters claimed that Breitbart’s attack on Van Jones was:

Van Jones is a commie punk. He was exposed to a great extent because of the hard journalism that was done at my website, that exposed him as a guy who was an unvetted liability to the Obama administration. He was forced to step down because of my journalistic work. […]

I believe that Van Jones, and Color of Change, and ACORN poison the black community with propaganda that divides this country. Van Jones is a human toxin, ACORN was a human toxin. These are poisonous, venomous forces within the American experience. I will expose them like the cockroaches that they are.

They somehow managed not to include this bit from the same Daily Caller article:

“Van Jones is a cop killer-supporting, racist, demagogic freak. And a commie. And an eco-fraudster,” Breitbart said.

Even the WaPo link NewsBusters provided mentioned the “cop killer-supporting, racist, demagogic freak” line, so I doubt they were unaware of it. They just declined to mention it, counting on their readers not to bother looking for themselves.

HuffPo pulled Breitbart off the front page because, they say, he engaged in a “false ad hominem attack”. I find it easy to believe that some of the things Breitbart said about Jones were, indeed, false (though it wouldn’t hurt for HuffPo to specify the falsehoods).

Meanwhile, Maher’s namecalling of Palin isn’t really something that is either true or false. It’s ugly, sophmoric, offensive, etc., but you can’t prove it to be true or false. Thus, I don’t see any hypocrisy on HuffPo’s part.

But I do see some unfairness on the part of NewsBusters.

A social program does not equal socialism. If that were the case then every charity program would be a sign of socialism. We realize that the left is pretty much bankrupt when it comes to meaningful ways of spinning Obama’s stupidity but stating that we have socialism because we have social programs is just laughable.

  17. MarkedMan says:

Palin is why I never think badly of people who follow the Lindsay Lohan tabloid parade. Not my cup of tea, and it would be easy to think of myself as somehow morally superior. But then I get me some new Palin dirt and I eat it up. She’s pathetic, completely self centered, unable to establish healthy relationships with other human beings, unable to tell the difference between fantasy and reality and, what can I say? How is she different from Lohan in any significant way?

  20. Oh Tawwwd says:

Poor Sarah. She has a crush on Obama and can’t stand it that he ignores her. She tweets like a depressed teen and has the emotional control of a 3rd grader. And now everybody’s gonna hear her whining about her 600 word Facebook diatribe put on the 2nd page. One can just smell the venom dripping from her lips. This menopausal woman needs to grow up and find something better to do like go home and watch out for those pedophile Russians on snowmobiles who might kidnap her children. She could at least do something useful and watch out from her front porch for that South Korean missile coming our way. Let us know Sarah when you see Putin’s head floating in the airspace over your backyard. Until then nobody cares about your opinions except for comedy you provide.
