Schwarzenegger Now as Popular as Gray Davis Then

Arnold Schwarzenegger's approval numbers are now exactly the same as Gray Davis' numbers in August 2003, two months before he was recalled by California voters.

Taegan Goddard reports:

A new Field Poll in California finds Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (R) approval numbers are now exactly the same as Gray Davis’ (D) numbers in August 2003, two months before he was recalled by California voters.

Just 22% currently approve of Schwarzenegger’s performance as governor, while 70% disapprove.

At least he can stop worrying about his ineligibility to run for president.

I have family members in CA who voted for the recall and for Arnie. In retrospect they think it would have been better if Davis had stayed in office. He couldn’t have done any worse and he’d probably have done somewhat better because he knew his way around the system. Btw they are in no doubt Brown in going to win the governorship but they could be wrong, after all they were about Arnie.

I didn’t pay close enough attention, maybe, in the Davis days. I think now Arnold has tried the right things, and just been blocked by the barbell (polarized) legislature.

… maybe if I still wasn’t paying attention I’d blame Arnie.
