SPORTS AND WAR, REDUX

SPORTS AND WAR, REDUX: I’ve been rather preoccupied with the war and haven’t kept up with the Hot Stove League as much as usual. This story from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is rather chilling: Political turmoil in Korea weighs on Braves prospect.

If Braves rookie pitcher Jung Keun Bong makes it to the major leagues and stays for any significant period, he will be excused from the mandatory military service requirement for all South Korean men.

Now that is a performance incentive.

No joke.
