The Soldiers You Never Hear About

Kate O’Beirne is saddened that, because of the nature of press coverage, the American public knows the names of the Abu Ghraib 7 but almost none of the recipients of several Navy Crosses, 128 Silver Stars, and 3,700-plus Purple Hearts. She does her bit by profiling a few of them.

    They’ve only given out 128 Silver Stars? The way everyone’s been talking about John Kerry’s military career, I assumed they gave those things out like candy.
