Steven L. Taylor is a Professor of Political Science and a College of Arts and Sciences Dean. His main areas of expertise include parties, elections, and the institutional design of democracies. His most recent book is the co-authored A Different Democracy: American Government in a 31-Country Perspective. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas and his BA from the University of California, Irvine. He has been blogging since 2003 (originally at the now defunct Poliblog).     That is a nice sky.

    I was out taking a walk near dusk earlier and hit a neat trick of light – as I crossed a major east-west street the setting sun was hitting the electrical wires at an angle where they were all reflecting at me orangey red as far as I could see looking west. It was so vibrant.

    It was mesmerizing. I stopped and gaped. It lasted maybe a minute and a half and winked out when the angle went too oblique.

    90 seconds of childish awe and wonder.
