John Kerry on Isreal/Lebannon/Hezbollah…

…”If I was president, this wouldn’t have happened,” said Kerry during a noon stop at Honest John’s bar and grill in Detroit’s Cass Corridor.

You know, that strikes me as quite a display of hubris. Exactly how would Kerry control the actions and decisions of Hezbollah?

UPDATE (James Joyner): In the “great minds think alike” department, see Alex Knapp‘s post on this from this morning.

UPDATE (Greg Tinti): And in the “disingenuous Democrats think alike” department, don’t forget that Howard Dean made basically the same claim a week earlier.

  1. Allan says:

If a Republican had said it, it would be a shocking admission of their evil nature.

The only thing shocking here is that Kerry has the nerve to continue opening his mouth.

  2. And what is “Honest Johns” anyway? Some sort of hang out for upstanding guys who have no problem telling hookers they’re married and possibly have herpes??

  3. Bithead says:

The same way Jimmy Carter did… By forcing Israel to give up more and more in the name of ‘peace’. Why, HEzbolah wouldn’t have to lift a finger.

But… Ummmm… Look closely, and you may note where that’s gotten us.

  4. Ira says:

It wouldn’t have happened because the Kerry Administration would have arm-twisted Israel into not responding to provocation. And who said anything about controlling Hezbollah?

  5. “If I was president, this wouldnâ??t have happened,â??… because we would have already surrendered and accepted our dhimmitude.

“If I was president, this wouldnâ??t have happened,â??… because Lebanon would still be a happy place, where children play and fly kites, and rivers flow with chocolate…

“If I was president, this wouldnâ??t have happened,â??… because I would have fixed this problem with my spear and my magic helmet.

“If I was president, this wouldnâ??t have happened,â??… because, did I mention I served in Vietnam?
