UPDATE (2004): ABC and CNN have gone ahead and projected Hillary Clinton the winner. Shocker.

With 19% in:

    Clinton 252,623 48% 0 Winner
    Obama 153,993 30% 0
    Edwards 72,142 14% 0
    Kucinich 5,066 1% 0

The Republican side is too close to call, except that there will be no surprise: Either McCain or Romney will win.

    McCain 202,145 34% 0
    Romney 181,995 31% 0
    Giuliani 98,929 17% 0
    Huckabee 78,151 13% 0
    Paul 19,025 3% 0
    Thompson 9,097 2% 0
    Hunter 991 0% 0

UPDATE (2012): The Republican contest is tightening considerably. With 29% in:

    McCain 292,694 34% 0
    Romney 283,640 33% 0
    Giuliani 132,833 15% 0
    Huckabee 117,130 14% 0
    Paul 26,977 3% 0
    Thompson 12,176 1% 0
    Hunter 1,303 0% 0

As an aside, let me reiterate how bizarre it is that Fox News is still broadcasting in standard def. I’m watching CNN’s broadcast, which isn’t very good, frankly, because they at least have the decency to broadcast in the right format.

Bill Bennett has just predicted, on CNN, that Giuliani will drop out tomorrow and endorse McCain.

UPDATE (2012): With 35% in:

    McCain 337,492 34% 0
    Romney 317,552 32% 0

The CNN (TV, no links) analysis has McCain doing well in several key matchups in Dade County and the Panhandle, where Romney would be expected to make up ground. Still, it remains too close to call at this point.

UPDATE (2100): With 46% in:

    McCain 409,853 35% 0
    Romney 372,111 32% 0

Mark Halperin: “SOURCES: Giuliani expected to endorse McCain, as early as Wednesday — in Los Angeles or Simi Valley.”

UPDATE (2113): CNN has projected, from exit polls and precinct results, that John McCain will win.

With 54% in, ABC News has yet to call it:

    McCain 465,089 36% 0
    Romney 412,773 32% 0

UPDATE (2118): AP has projected McCain the winner, too.

Sen. John McCain won a breakthrough triumph in the Florida Republican primary Tuesday night, edging past former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and seizing precious campaign momentum for next week’s string of contests across 21 states.

“It shows one thing: I’m the conservative leader who can unite the party,” the Arizona senator said in a brief interview with The Associated Press. “It’s a very significant boost, but I think we’ve got a tough week ahead and a lot of states to come.”

The victory was worth 57 national convention delegates for McCain, a winner-take-all’s haul and the largest single prize to date in the race.

Fox News is also projecting McCain the winner, although their website graphic still says “Too Close to Call.”

UPDATE (0725, Jan. 30): Here are the near-final results from ABC:
