BEAR DE-RAILED

N. Z. Bear explains why the Ecosytem hasn’t been updated the last few days:

…my friends at Hosting Matters moved my server (their choice, not mine) over last weekend, and I only just now realized that this meant I needed to reset all of the cron jobs that make the Ecosystem and other TTLB functions work. (To their credit, they did mention that this might be necessary, although not exactly prominently, in their notification of the change).

HostingMatters has been getting on my nerves of late. They’re constantly tinkering with things and inconveniencing customers–and don’t even send out a courtesy e-mail on the subject.

Performance has been rather iffy too, at least on my site.

Yep. Although I can never tell when it’s HM versus my ISP.

  3. Kevin Whited says:

Whenever a host decides to switch datacenters — in their case, from a well-established premiere datacenter with bandwidth of exceptional quality — there are bound to be problems, both anticipated and unanticipated. HM seems to have gotten more than their share of late (not to mention NAC, their old DC, having more problems than usual). But they run a good outfit.

Kevin, I see you’re at Peak10 DC now. Is your complaint about connectivity or server performance? Just curious.

    /me whistles…

I have cheap, reliable hosting. I’d always recommend my host.

It may just be a fluke with HostingMatters. They’ve got a good recommendation and came highly recommended. But they’ve definitely been going through growing pains lately.
