Bonus Quote Of The Day: A Trip Inside Rick Perry’s Brain Edition

“Those who are going to be over 21 on November 12th, I ask for your support,” Perry said, eliciting a few chuckles from the crowd. “Those who won’t be, just work hard. Because you’re… counting on us.”

    I give up. November 12 What Year?

  2. de stijl says:

    Is this a Bonus Quote because Perry thinks the voting age is 21 and not 18?

    I may be missing the point.

  3. Usually there’s only one Quote of the Day post but I couldn’t resist putting this one up too. Hence, the title

    @Doug Mataconis:

    I wasn’t clear – I get that it is a Bonus quote, but why is it a QOTD at all?

    Is it the 18/21 goof up?

  5. MarkedMan says:

    @de stijl: It’s a two-fer. He thinks election day is the 12th. It is the 6th. And he thinks the voting age is 21, when it has been 18 for as long as I’ve been voting and that, my friends, is a significantly long time.

    You know, if someone makes an occasional mistake, the press can get a theme going that the person is an idiot, and that might be unfair. But I have yet to hear a single word come out of Perry’s mouth that implied any kind of ability to remember and understand what he has learned or lived through.

    @MarkedMan:

    Ah, gotcha.

    But it still seems like small beer to me – ever since I’ve turned forty mumble-mumble I have to check my phone when I’m writing checks to make sure I get they year right. Hell, my mom has lived in AZ for a long time and, for the life of me, I can never remember what time it is there.
