Bush Family E-Mails Hacked

Several members of the Bush family have fallen victim to a hacking attack:

Several email accounts owned by members of the Bush family or their close friends have been hacked, a family spokesman confirms. A criminal investigation into the hack is underway.

The emails, posted by the Smoking Gun Web site, include a picture from former president George H.W. Bush’s recent hospital stay and detailed exchanges among his children about his condition. Pictures of George W. Bush’s oil paintings and family snapshots are included. There are also personal details such as emails, phone numbers and addresses for multiple members of the Bush family.

The story was first uncovered by The Smoking Gun, which has a story up this morning detailing some of what was apparently uncovered, part of which included conversations among the children of President George H.W. Bush during the time he was in the hospital during the last two months of 2012. According to the report, the elder Bush’s condition was such that, at some point, discussions were being had about the former President’s funeral and eulogy.

No word yet on who may have been behind this rather audacious invasion of privacy. Hopefully, they’ll be tracked down and prosecuted accordingly.

    Not nice. Not nice at all….definite invasion of privacy. Probably carried out by some sniggering pimply-faced 14-year old simply “to show I can do it!”

    In a December 27 e-mail to his four siblings, Jeb Bush saluted his ailing father’s “kindness and good nature” and pointed to “how kind he was with President Clinton and he helped restore his sordid reputation. A very tough thing to do but with kindness, dad probably helped Bill Clinton than anything he himself has done.”

    Sordid reputation? Ha, ha, ha.

    I refuse to delve into it more carefully, but if they paint the Bush family in an unusually positive light (particularly Jeb) … perhaps this “leak” wasn’t exactly a “hack”.

    Doubtful. The Jeb Bush quote above continues with this:

    Bush, who wrote at a time his father was in intensive care (and amid media reports that the ex-president was on his death bed), added, “Might be tough to say it that way in a eulogy with President 42 there.”

    That doesn’t put Jeb in positive light.
    And voters don’t elect Presidents out of pity.
