CALIFORNIA SCREAMING

Brad DeLong isn’t too thrilled with his choices for governor: a Republican who’s nuts and/or a lying weasel; a quasi-Republican who refuses to say anything other than that he loves California; and a Democrat who thinks he can regulate the price of gasoline. How desperate is the situation?

Grey Davis is looking better and better. If he gets recalled, it’s starting to look as though we have nothing but a choice among greater evils.

Now that’s depressing.

The only caveat I’d offer is that I hope–with no evidence at all–that Schwarzenegger is waiting until the election gets closer before unveiling his plan, which either exists now is or being fine-tuned. That would be a smart strategy with so many candidates in the race right now; no sense taking pot shots early. If, on the other hand, he really is planning on getting elected without saying how he’s going to fix the mess the state is in, he deserves to lose.

If Brad is so worried maybe he should have run for governor.
