    What I wonder is what all the Covid-deniers think about this. Do they believe that Don Junior and Andrew are faking testing positive? If so, why would they do that? Cui bono?

    @CSK: True story….I was having a bit of an argument with my brother last week about Thanksgiving plans, he’s a denier. Found out yesterday my sis-in-law tested positive Wednesday, but they’re keeping it a secret. Sent their kids to their respective basketball games and everything (none of them are showing symptoms yet). No idea if he plans to preach this Sunday at his church, or if they’ve notified their congregation of exposure, since his wife was just beginning to show symptoms and still went last Sunday.

    I haven’t spoken to him since I found out she tested positive. Not sure I can without getting angry again. I talked to her this morning, she said her symptoms have primarily been stomach/back/body aches that have kept her in bed the last 3 days, light cough but nothing major so far.

    @Jax:
    I’m sorry to learn this. It’s always hard when close family members disagree so profoundly. I hope you all stay well, or recover quickly, whatever happens.

    I don’t have any deniers among my family or close friends. I suppose I’m lucky.

    @CSK: My brother and I are not what I would call close. I find myself relieved quite often that he lives in another state. Thank you for the well-wishes, I hope their….lack of responsibility….doesn’t kill anyone. 😐

    Short answer – yes and no.

    There seem to be way more prominent GOPs getting COVID than Ds. I’m expecting to see some wingnut saying this is a deep state/Soros attack on Rs since we all know masks are a socialist plot that don’t make any difference.

    My sympathies. Take care.

    @gVOR08:
    Someone at Lucianne.com suggested that very thing earlier today.

  9. Liberal Capitalist says:

    So, from Colorado, we drove down across Jesusland to get to our southern estate near Gulf Breeze (near Pensacola, just east)

    When we got here, pre-election, the masks were about 25%. Now, maybe 50%.

    The wife is terrified to step out the door, because we will end up running into the mouth-breather Covid deniers. Hell… Lowes has a table set up at the entrances with free masks and had sanitizer, and people are just walking on past.

    I have little hope for our survival. Yes, the vast majority of us will make it past Covid. But if we can’t get people to wear a mask over a direct life-or-death issue, then how the hell are these WWG1WGA T-shirt wearing maroons wver going to do a damned thing about Global Warming.

    Right now, the waterfront standard being discussed here is at least three stories. The first floor is a wash (literally). The second floor is car parking… the garage. The third is living quarters.

    Much like Jax’s sister-in-law looking at Covid as “just a cough”, these folks think that they will just have an awesome view… Not a result of Global Warming, or that they will soon have a permanently moored houseboat.

    THIS! Exactly.

  13. Just nutha ignint cracker says:

    @OzarkHillbilly: I’ve tried reading the riot act to such people before. It’s like talking to a brick except that the brick listens and at least considers your comments. It still may not understand why you’re angry, but it won’t personalize it or get angry back, either.

    Covid must not be all that important. Our President left for a round of golf rather than participate in the G-20 pandemic response session. He did deliver some self-congratulations in the opening session. I’m sure the world is very impressed.

  15. Jax says:

    @OzarkHillbilly: Oh, I did last week during our argument. I generally let my kids go with my parents over to their house for Thanksgiving, and I stay home to feed the cows (I would honestly rather lather up with a cheese grater than be around my brother). He was upset I wouldn’t let my kids go this year, and I told him in no uncertain terms I didn’t think our parents should be going over there, either, with Mom just getting over a 3 week round of “just to make sure the cancer doesn’t come back” chemo.

  16. Jax says:

    @Just nutha ignint cracker: It blows me away that people trust him with their immortal souls. I could literally get better spiritual guidance from a brick, AND NOT CATCH COVID!!!

  17. OzarkHillbilly says:

    @Just nutha ignint cracker: @Jax:

    Nope, it doesn’t do any good besides making me feel better for letting my anger out, even if it does raise my blood pressure a few points. I really have no love for the holidays. My step daughter always puts a feast on for TG day, sometimes at her in-laws in Bloomington other years here. I think I convinced her that this year should be skipped. Whether it was me or somebody else she ended up agreeing.

  18. Jax says:

    @OzarkHillbilly: Yeah, it does nothing but set in his mind that I’m still the hippie heathen rebel when I argue with him. I’ll even lower myself to arguing with him for my parents and my kids over his COVID bullshit, though. I KNOW my Mom really wants to see his girls (if there was ever karma, it’s that my brother has 5 daughters…..bet he’s re-thinking how he treated all those girls now….), but we can see them next year if everybody stays alive!

  19. Kathy says:

    On COVID news, the FDA issued an emergency use authorization for Regeneron’s antibody cocktail.

    I hope for more detailed info tomorrow.

    Yeah, this.

    Even if we survive the immediate Crisis of Malign Idiots, there is zero chance of the Biden administration accomplishing anything substantive to help avert the impending trashing of human society due to climate change. We’re fighting a holding action against the mutineers on the lifeboat while all of us get swept over the falls by the current.

  21. Jax says:

    @Kathy: From what I heard, they only have a “limited amount of doses” available now. It’s not going to save anybody before Christmas, except for probably Trump Jr and Rudy’s Jr, and those who can afford it. 🙁 I’m glad it’s there, don’t get me wrong, but there’s gonna be a lot of dead people before then.

  22. Just nutha ignint cracker says:

    @Jax: As Earnest Aingley is reported to have said, “Jesus can change your heart [although probably not, in this case, it would seem], but stupid is forever.”

    Tie your mom to a chair, if you have to. Your brother will get angry, but God will understand.

    2
  23. Just nutha ignint cracker says:

    @OzarkHillbilly: I get that. Really. One of the links between rage and asthma is that some patients find the surge of adrenalin that they get from a big blow up is very rewarding because their symptoms go away. The relief you get from throwing a chair at someone can’t be either described or duplicated in any other way. It’s positively amazing.

  24. Franklin says:

    @Jax: Have you considered notifying the congregation yourself?

  25. Jax says:

    @Franklin: I have. Actually, I’ve considered contacting the health department in their county and letting them do it. I’m really hoping my brother sees the light and delivers his sermon remotely today and next week, I know he’s got the capability, he set it up during the lockdown in March.

    I also wonder how many of them care. There’s a high probability they are also deniers.
