Elisabeth Hasselbeck “Loses Her Mind” (Video)

That’s the title of the number three most popular video on YouTube today which is a clip from yesterday’s The View. The ladies were discussing the morning after pill and Hasselbeck’s two cents just happened to represent the pro-life argument. Here’s the video:

What’s funny is that Hasselbeck doesn’t really “lose her mind” but rather tries to make a pro-life argument only to be silenced and chastised by Barbara Walters like a out-of-line child. And when the show comes back from break, Walters is actually coddling Hasselbeck like a baby. More video:

The only way that Hasselbeck “lost her mind” was in thinking that she was going to be able to make a pro-life argument sitting with Walters, Joy Behar, and guest host Lisa Loeb and be heard out. The whole episode reminds me of those old SNL skits about The View where Walters would order Hasselbeck’s predecessor Debbie Matenopoulos to get “into her cage.”

It is EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION…not an abortificant…and screw her warped view that victims of rape should be forced to carry to term!

  2. Gollum says:

This is a study in how extremists on both sides of the abortion issue have hijacked the discussion of a contraception issue.

    Kee-ripes.

  3. LJD says:

    Riiiggghhhtttt, Matt.

‘Free speech’ only applies to criticism of the President, war, conservatives, etc. Check.

People with conservative minds need to be silenced by liberals idiots like Walters. Check.

It’s o.k. to twist the actual comments of those you disagree with for effect. AND Check.

I thought she actually said that the drug should be used only in the rare occasion that a woman was raped. Not that she should be forced to carry to term. Regardless, abortion is legal, and this is just her opinion.

Incidentally, I totally disagree with her view. I just cant get over such rabid intolerance from the ‘party of tolerance’. Once again we see it only applies to ‘your kind of people’.

Keep living up to your name. You could aspire to someday be Rabid/InsaneMatt.

  4. madmatt says:

I am intolerant of the intolerant it is true…if she wants to honestly state her case that is fine, but she blatently lied to make her point and I do not believe that is should be tolerated.

  5. Steven Plunk says:

I’m intolerant of the intolerant of the intolerant.

It’s nice to such civility in a comment like “screw her warped view…”. That’s the way to work out issues between folks.

  6. DaveD says:

I think it is unfair to say Hasselbeck “lost her mind” but I did think her response was too emotional in that setting. I guess her response was a passionate one because she does feel strongly about it and would know outright she holds the minority view. Based upon the interjections from that woman wearing the Aztec fertility pendant suspended just above her cleavage I think it is evident that this show is not set up to discuss these “hot” issues seriously. I would guess that one is obliged, in general, to echo Ms. Walters views on this show and any disagreement with her is done so with a high level of respectful deference.

Women who use Plan B should be hung from the church steeple with a noose made from condoms. That’ll learn ’em.

    Floyd izzatchew?

  9. Jesus Got My Back says:

    Floyd izzatchew?

Christ on a cracker…who has a last name like izzatchew? Sounds like a sinner name to me. Mr. Izzatchew better watch out ‘cuz Jesus is gonna get ’em. Jesus hates sinners. Take note sinners: ‘Go Burn in Hell’ is the new forgiveness.

  10. randall says:

When will conservatives learn that free speech does not apply to them. The only correct thoughts come from liberal minds. The views of conservatives need to be suppressed at all cost.LOL

  11. Jesus Got My Back says:

Spare us the conservative viewpoint propoganda. Conservatives use the Lord for votes, plain and simple. Jesus is gonna get them too. If that blonde false witness really cared about life, she would have stomped right off the set and gone straight to Wal-Mart to stick sewing needles in boxes of condoms rather than stick around and sit on the lap of The Devil.

I’m one of those narrow minded, wrong thinking, brain-washed, Bible thumping Southern Baptist Christians, and all I can say on this matter is that this was not the time or the place for Hasselbeck to offer her views on this matter. She most definitely has the right to her opinion, however she should have know she was going to be silenced. I had a professor in college who once stated that a person should not bring forth a problem or complaint if they are not ready with a solution. I’m pro-life but I won’t tell a woman what to do with her body because I don’t have a good solution to the problem.

    Guys, guys, guys!

Don’t worry, you’ll be able to get your partial-birth abortion (or whatever we’re calling it these days that sounds like wart removal).

By all means, don’t listen to Hasselbeck say she wishes something were available in the difficult cases that have been mentioned and that she understands people have other views. Why should you start listening to what women think and need?

I thought it was interesting that Elisabeth told Barbara that she loved being there with all of them on the view, like she was afraid that she would be the next one to be fired for losing her cool.
