FRANKEN RADIO SHOW

Chicago Tribune reports,

Ending months of speculation, political humorist Al Franken has signed a deal to host a three-hour daily talk radio program for Progress Media, a New York City-based firm that is trying to launch a national liberal talk radio network.

Progress Media also announced Tuesday that its broadcasts will air in Chicago on WNTD-AM 950. It is the company’s first confirmed radio distribution deal. No launch date was disclosed.

“Quite simply, my plan is to alter the political landscape, drive this radical right-wing president from office and stand as a beacon for ordinary Americans who work hard and play by the rules,” Franken said in a statement.

Franken said in an interview that he will have a co-host, whom he declined to identify, and that the show will include a mix of guests, produced comedy and listener calls.

Franken likely will go head-to-head with Rush Limbaugh, the embattled conservative radio host and king of talk radio. Progress Media Chief Executive Mark Walsh declined to say exactly when during the day Franken’s program would air but did say it would be a “midday” program, which typically means 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Limbaugh airs on WLS-AM 890 in that time slot.

One can only hope for delightful humor like this:

I’m Al Franken. I’m here to present the funniest ad award. I’m a last-minute substitution, former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill was supposed to be the presenter, but unfortunately he was murdered.

Hysterical!

Hyperbole, thy name is Al. I must have missed something, though. When did GWB become a radical right-winger? I mean, his latest policy proposals have been medicare prescription drugs and immigration reform.

    Re: Bryan

EVERYONE to the right of Al Franken are considered to be radical rightwing extremist. Think that meme for a couple of weeks, and you too can be Al Franken.

  3. Al’s doomed to failure if his mission is to change the political landscape. Going in, I’m pretty sure Rush Limbaugh or his corporate backer thought he’d change politics. His show was/is about talking to that large segment of people who didn’t like the biases of mainstream media. He’s about communicating and entertaining them.

    I just can’t wait!

It will be good to watch the flames. Notice he is already downplaying lister calls??? Gee, wonder why?

After this failed experiment is over, all the liberals will have to quit freaking whining that nobody ever lets them on talk radio. Franken will form a crater when he hits the ground.
