George Will: Sarah Palin Cannot Be Elected President
Sunday on ABC’s This Week, George Will became the latest conservative to bluntly say that Sarah Palin cannot be elected President:
“The President’s secret weapon may be the Republican nominating electorate… There is one person, high in the polls, Sarah Palin, who cannot be elected president because she cannot compete where elections are decided. In the collar counties outside Chicago, Montgomery County outside of Philadelphia- just can’t compete there.”
The discussion about Palin continued in the web-only “Green Room segment taped after the show is over:
The Palinistas, of course, will reject all of this out of hand, but with Will, Krauthammer, and others saying essentially the same thing, and poll after poll confirming what they say, one would think that the rest of the GOP would listen and, if Palin does decide to run, act accordingly.
Oh, Doug: you are such a hater!
Cue–ah hell, you know.
Just when was it that she declared her candidacy? I can’t remember.
Agree with Mr. McGuire, above. She’s said nothing about running. Her best move is to leverage her running to extract common sense proposals from those who are running the GOP. I think she knows she can’t win (in 2012) – though she can play a huge role in the nomination process. I am fine with her doing this.
Part of her problem is that she still doesn’t appear to be deeply well-versed on the issues of the day (Reagan honed his pimp hand over many years. It is not easy.) I was kind of hoping she’d take some time off to do that. Still, her personality is strong and the hatred she engenders from liberals has value. Underestimate her at your peril.
Just when was it that she declared her candidacy?
Another new rule: Thou shalt not discuss a possible candidate until they have formally declared their candidacy*.
* This rule only applies for discussions of Sarah Palin, and only to people who would not support her candidacy.
“Her best move is to leverage her running to extract common sense proposals from those who are running the GOP.”
Proposals such as?
“Still, her personality is strong and the hatred she engenders from liberals has value.”
Indeed…liberals need someone to get comic relief from on a regular basis…
She’s so, you know … common. I mean, it’s not like she has the education we Beltways have. My goodness, elect a commoner???
