GIBBS TO RETURN?

I heard on the local NPR station that Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs was seriously considering returning as head coach of the Washington Redskins. Michael Wilbon and now an news alert on the front page of WaPo indicate that it’s looking like a done deal:

Gibbs Expected to Return to Redskins
A contract has not been signed. Announcement on deal is likely today. Details to come.

Interesting.

    And wild.

One wonders if Gibbs is sufficiently large a figure that Snyder would back off? Medoubts it, but maybe.

Parcells tamed Jerry Jones, so anything is possible I suppose…

Jerry Jones tamed himself, swallowing his pride to hire Parcells. He admitted as much at the press conference–that he realized his way wasn’t working and that it was time to bring in someone who knew what he was doing. Maybe the Gibbs hiring means Synder has made that realization; I hope not, since the Redskins are a division rival, but it wouldn’t surprise me. He didn’t get that rich by being a moron.

The late 1980’s NFC East called and they want their coaches back. How long before we have a Buddy Ryan sighting?
